Terms of service
Effective 2026-10-18. These terms govern your use of the apps and websites that Chyuo publishes ("the apps"). Chyuo is operated by Yucho Ho, trading as Chyuo ("we"). By creating an account or using an app you agree to these terms. If you are in Japan, the Japanese version at /ja/terms applies to you.
1. Who may use the apps
You must be at least 13 years old, or older where your country sets a higher age for consenting to online services. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
2. Your account
You sign in through our identity provider. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in private. Tell us at support@chyuo.com if you believe someone else has used it.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
Some features are paid. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are governed by that store's terms, billed by the store, renew through the store and are cancelled or refunded through the store. Purchases made on the web are processed by Stripe; we never see your card number. Subscriptions renew at the end of each period until you cancel; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. If we change a price, we tell you in advance and the new price applies from your next renewal. Except where the law or the store's policy says otherwise, payments are not refundable.
4. Your content
Content you add to an app (photos, documents, text and the like) stays yours. You give us the permission we need to store, process and display it to provide the app to you, including sending it to the service providers named in our privacy policy, such as AI providers that extract information from it. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not show it to other users unless the app's feature you use does so by design. You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the apps to break the law, to harm others, to upload content you have no right to, to interfere with the apps or other users, to probe or overload our systems, or to resell access. We may suspend or close an account that does.
6. Changes, suspension and ending
The apps change over time; we may add, change or remove features. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, and you may delete your account at any time (see the privacy policy for how). Sections 4, 7, 8 and 9 survive the end of these terms.
7. Disclaimers
The apps are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about them, including that they will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Information an app produces, including information extracted or generated by AI, can be wrong; check it before relying on it.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from the apps, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are brought in the state or federal courts located there, except that you may bring a claim in your local small-claims court. Mandatory consumer-protection law of the country you live in still applies to you.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we post the new version here with its effective date and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they apply. Using the apps after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
